Latest from WSDOT...

  • SEATTLE – After one year at Vigor shipyard, work to modernize the Wenatchee is progressing, including the necessary and long-planned upgrade to its aging propulsion system and conversion to hybrid-electric power. With capacity for 202 vehicles, the Wenatchee is the largest passenger ferry in the United States to be electrified. Washington State Ferries originally estimated work would take roughly a year to complete and now expects a return to service summer 2025.
  • RENTON – Travelers should plan for two full directional closures on the Interstate 405 corridor starting Friday night, Sept. 20, to Monday, Sept. 23: northbound Interstate 405 in Bothell and southbound I-405 in Renton.
  • SEATTLE – As the leaves begin to turn, Washington State Ferries’ next round of virtual public meetings will help turn the page on its busiest season. The pair of meetings will feature a question-and-answer session with WSF directors and decision-makers, who will also provide the latest information on summer travel, crewing and service reliability.
