MoreShould modern tech products start embracing the iMac G3’s fun translucent design language?
Once upon a time in consumer tech, roughly around the turn of the millennium, fun translucent colors were the bee's knees. Whether you were purchasing a new video game console, a desktop PC, a computer mouse, or even your favorite pop star's new album on compact cassette, see-through electronic gadgets were ubiquitous in the 90s and in the early 00s. For better or worse, this particular design trend faded into the rear view mirror as quickly as it arrived. While we've thankfully moved on from the era of drab beige PC towers, most modern tech products now ship in rather uninspired black, white, and gray colorways. Every now and again, we're treated to a gorgeously colored product -- my personal all-time favorite happens to be the burgundy red Microsoft Surface Laptop 2. Unfortunately, the company ripped this SKU off the market, and we haven't seen it return on a Surface product since. See-through electronics are arguably even cooler, allowing us to peer into the inner workings of ou
Will you be tuning in to live election coverage tonight?
No matter what your political leanings may be, I think we can all agree that it has been a tense election season. It's too early to say if the Presidential race will be called tonight, but it can be either thrilling or anxiety-inducing to watch as official vote tallies stream in in real time. If you are planning on watching the election night coverage, there are plenty of free options, from Pluto TV to TikTok, which you can check out at the link. But if you're too anxious about the outcome, it's totally valid to load up a favorite film on Netflix and just wait until the morning to hear how things are going. I think I'll probably try and distract myself with something non-politics related initially (I haven't watched this year's Treehouse of Horror yet!) but I just know I'll probably end up scrolling my phone at some point looking at political results and will likely switch over to streaming election coverage if I see something big is happening. What are your plans for watching electio
Are you buying the Kindle Colorsoft or are its recent issues pushing you to Kobo?
E Ink displays have been available in the consumer market for a number of years now, and their distinct properties have never ceased to amaze me. The display technology offers a near-flawless digital approximation of physical paper, all while consuming minimal energy and offering excellent outdoor visibility in the process. E Ink technology has made itself at home in a number of places, from the shelf tags at your local big box retailer, to those airport flight information panels we all know and love. Of course, the biggest E Ink niche of them all is within the e-reader space. In recent years, a new variant has hit the market -- color E Ink -- which promises to marry the benefits of a lively color palette with the paper-like experience that only E Ink can provide. Major e-reader manufacturers such as Kobo have gone all-in on color E Ink, and Amazon has recently joined the fray with its brand-new Kindle Colorsoft product. Unfortunately, the Colorsoft has been subject to harsh critici
