MoreMouse pointers and Nintendo -- are you on board with this potential Switch 2 feature?
The successor to Nintendo's popular Switch hybrid game console is officially just around the corner. Commonly referred to by fans as simply the Switch 2, this yet-to-be-announced next-gen system is expected to retain much of the existing Switch's DNA, while offering a noticeable boost in terms of compute power. President of Nintendo, Shuntaro Furukawa, has previously confirmed a self-imposed Switch 2 reveal deadline of March 31, 2025, which lines up with the end of the company's current fiscal quarter. "We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March 2015," says Furukawa in an X post from May of last year. The internet is predictably ablaze with Switch 2 hype, speculation, rumors, and leaks, with no sign of things slowing down anytime soon. In just the past couple of weeks, we've seen a number of alleged supply chain images floating around,
Will you be watching Sony's new live action video game adaptations?
As part of this year's CES, Sony took to the stage to announce that it is continuing to mine its PlayStation video game library for studio film projects, announcing that it’s developing new live-action movies based on Horizon Zero Dawn and Helldivers. The push for live-action adaptations has had wildly uneven results so far, with movies like Gran Turismo and Uncharted failing to resonate with audiences, but the blockbuster series adaptation of The Last of Us becoming a huge cultural staple. What do you think about these two newest projects? No talent has been attached to either yet, but both IPs seem like they could have at least some cinematic potential, if handled by the right creative team. Which of these would you most look forward to seeing?
Will Disney's acquisition of Fubo TV make streaming worse?
When it comes to media mergers and acquisitions, the end result is typically bad for the consumer. When Warner Bros. Discovery dissolved its individual business segments and streamers to create Max, prices rose, content disappeared, and subscribers were left disappointed with a franken-product that was far, far less than the sum of its parts (RIP HBO Go). It's hard not to feel a little similar about today's acquisition of Fubo TV by Disney. While the companies will operate independently for now, it's not hard to imagine a future where Fubo TV, Hulu with Live TV, ESPN+ and Disney+ all combine to become one product, similar to Max, which will naturally be insanely expensive and only have about a third of what you want to watch at any given time. The only silver lining here is for sports fans, who may just get their wish for kitchen-sink sports streamer Venu, which has been cleared to move forward that Fubo TV's lawsuit has effectively ended.
