MoreWould you pay $3,000 for a limited edition video game console?
Today Sony dropped the 30th Anniversary bundle for the PS5 Pro, which, while stylish, costed an eye-watering $999.99. And while that price point may induce some serious sticker shock for most of us, that didn't stop retailers from being overwhelmed immediately when the unit went on sale this morning, with all 12,300 of these numbered consoles selling out within seconds. And as you might expect, many of these purchases were from resellers, with hundreds of listings popping up on eBay mere moments after the console sold out, complete with insane markups. Just a quick look at the resale site shows most units carrying a "Buy it Now" price of over $3000. Would you ever consider paying this much for a video game console?
Have you jumped on the vinyl trend yet?
Vinyl isn't new, but it is continuing to pick up steam. I was at Target the other day watching teenagers happily sort through the available records, looking for one record album in particular. It actually made me giggle because I could never have imagined doing something like that with my friends when I was in high school. But, I guess it's trendy to be retro and audiophiles love vinyl records. I've yet to hop on this trend, though. Am I missing out? I kind of hate the idea of a large record player taking up space somewhere and then storing my records where my toddler can't break them. Is it just me?
With Apple now embracing both Qi2 and USB-C charging standards, is it time for the company to resurrect its MagSafe Battery Pack?
Apple first introduced us to its new MagSafe wireless charging protocol with the launch of the iPhone 12 series back in 2020. In short, MagSafe introduces a circular ring of magnets to the rear panel of newer iPhones, which helps to align the inductive charging coils used for Qi wireless charging. Since then, a wide variety of MagSafe-ready charging stands and accessories have hit the market, including some from Apple itself. A fan favorite -- the company's own MagSafe Battery Pack -- was released in July 2021 and then unceremoniously discontinued in September 2023 after the launch of the iPhone 15 series. Other peripheral makers have since filled the external magnetic battery void left by Apple, including excellent offerings like the Anker MagGo Power Bank or the brand-new UGREEN Magnetic Power Bank. These newer devices benefit from Qi2 certification, which is an open standard that fuses together the original Qi wireless charging specification with Apple's own MagSafe magnet attachmen
