AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPUs Sold Out in Europe and US as Pre-Orders Deplete Incoming Shipments

Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 37

teaser
Multiple reports indicate that AMD's Ryzen 7 9800X3D processors have been sold out in both the United States and European markets. European retailers have completely exhausted their stock of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D before the incoming shipments have even been delivered. This high demand has resulted in pre-orders being fully booked ahead of the actual availability of the CPUs. Retailers have all reported being out of stock for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D in Europe. The scarcity of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D has led Mindfactory to cancel pre-orders due to an inability to fulfill them. Additionally, the retailer has accumulated a significant number of pre-orders, resulting in the next shipment of Ryzen 7 9800X3D processors being sold out before arrival. The United States is experiencing similar availability issues, prompting scalpers to sell the Ryzen 7 9800X3D at prices exceeding the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP).

Intel Faces US Consumer Lawsuits Over Instability in 13th and 14th Gen Core Processors

Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 23

teaser
Intel Corporation is currently dealing with several lawsuits filed by consumers in the United States, claiming that its 13th and 14th generation Core processors have performance stability issues. On November 6, technology news site The Register reported that users have taken legal action against Intel, pointing to defects in the 13th generation desktop processors released in 2022 and the 14th generation desktop processors introduced in 2023. These processors, known as the Raptor Lake series, are important parts of Intel's desktop CPU offerings. One of the lawsuits involves Mark Vanvalkenburgh, as shown in documents from the federal court in San Jose, California. Mr. Vanvalkenburgh bought an Intel Core i7-13700K processor from Best Buy in January 2023. He later experienced unstable system performance, which he believes was due to defects in the processor. This case is part of a larger group of lawsuits where multiple consumers report similar instability issues, indicating a possible pattern of defects rather than isolated problems. The reported issues include system crashes, reduced processing efficiency, and overheating, which negatively impact the performance and reliability of desktop systems using these processors.

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D CPU Tested, leak indicates 63% faster than 7950X3D

Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 32

teaser
AMD has yet to release its latest flagship processor Ryzen 9 9950X3D, featuring 16 cores and 32 threads based on the Zen 5 architecture, but some results have leaked to the web.  Each CCD has 8MB L2, then the standard 32MB L3 and then 64MB 3D V-Cache. That's 192 MB L3 cache. However, we cannot be 100% certain that both CCDs will get that extra slab of 64MB, bringing it to 128MB L3. Additionally, the processor includes 2x8 MB of L2 cache, bringing the total cache memory to 192 MB. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D is built with two Zen 5 CCDs and supports DDR5-5600 memory. While specific base and boost clock speeds have not been disclosed, it is anticipated that the 9950X3D will employ the second generation of 3D V-Cache stacking technology, potentially allowing for higher clock speeds compared to the Ryzen 7950X3D. The thermal design power (TDP) is estimated to range between 120W and 170W. The CPU is also expected to support overclocking in addition to standard Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO) and Core Overclocking (CO) tuning options. Performance evaluations using the Factorio benchmark revealed that the Ryzen 9 9950X3D achieved a score of 655 Updates Per Second (UPS). In comparison, the Ryzen 7 7950X3D scored an average of 400 UPS and a peak of 458 UPS, while the Ryzen 7 9800X3D obtained an average score of 554 UPS. These results indicate that the Ryzen 9 9950X3D offers approximately a 64% improvement over the Ryzen 7950X3D and an 18% increase compared to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. The enhanced performance is attributed to the higher core count and increased cache size, which contribute significantly to the CPU's efficiency in handling complex tasks.
